This week on the Eurogamer Newscast, we focus on who may decide up the baton and develop a possible Baldur’s Gate 4 – now that BG3 studio Larian has confirmed it’s leaving the franchise behind.
The rights to Baldur’s Gate in fact belong to Wizards of the Coast, who’re free to enlist one other studio to make additional video games within the Dungeons and Dragons universe – and even use Larian’s characters. And contemplating how properly BG3 has been obtained, it could appear financially prudent for a writer to mount some form of follow-up sooner or later. Maybe BioWare may like to present it one other go?
Alternatively you can argue – and Larian’s personal Swen Vincke has finished so – that there actually should not want to be a Baldur’s Gate 4 in any respect. BG3 was nice, however why does that imply there needs to be extra? Becoming a member of me this week to debate are Eurogamer’s Ed Nightingale and Victoria Kennedy.
