DETROIT – The Detroit Tigers and Bally Sports activities Detroit confirmed the absence of Craig Monroe on tv broadcasts is because of allegations that have been made on social media.
Monroe, the crew’s major tv analyst alongside play-by-play voice Jason Benetti, hasn’t appeared on any broadcasts because the Tigers hosted the Milwaukee Brewers from June 7-9.
On Tuesday, July 2, 2024, WDIV acquired an announcement from Bally Sports activities Detroit and the Tigers.
“Bally Sports activities Detroit and the Tigers are conscious of the social media allegations and take them significantly,” the assertion says. “As beforehand acknowledged, Mr. Monroe has not been on the published schedule and that can proceed on an indefinite foundation. We can have no additional remark and any questions needs to be directed to Mr. Monroe.”
The social media allegations have been made by a girl on Twitter and Instagram. She accuses Monroe of raping her when she was a toddler and he stayed together with her household throughout his minor league profession.
She stated Monroe was taking part in for the Port Charlotte Rangers on the time. Monroe performed 92 video games in Port Charlotte in 1997, a full season in 1998, and 130 video games in 1999.
She accused him of additional sexual misconduct after his profession superior past Port Charlotte, together with whereas he was with the Tigers.
Thus far, Monroe has not made an official assertion.
The 47-year-old has been a member of the Tigers broadcast crew for a number of years after taking part in in Detroit from 2003-2007. He spent 672 video games as a Tiger throughout that span.
His MLB profession spanned from 2001 to 2009 and included stops in Texas, Detroit, Chicago (Cubs), Minnesota, and Pittsburgh.
