AND WHAT IT DOES, IS IT STEALING THE MATTER FROM THE SUN? MOST OF THIS IS HYDROGEN. AND AS IT STARTS TO PULL ALL THAT IN AND AROUND THE WHITE DWARF, IT CREATES WHAT’S CALLED AN ACCRETION DISK. AND ONCE IT GETS ENOUGH MATTER, IT HAS ACTUALLY A FUSION REACTION, ARDEN THAT TAKES PLACE. AND WE SEE THAT IN THE FORM OF A BURST OF LIGHT THAT HAPPENS AND SO IT TAKES AGAIN, THE CYCLE IS ABOUT 80 YEARS. AND THEN WE SEE THAT BURST OF LIGHT AND ANOTHER 80 YEARS, AND THEN WE SEE ANOTHER BURST OF LIGHT. AND THAT LASTS AT LEAST BRIGHT ENOUGH FOR OUR EYES TO SEE FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS.
