TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Two Holland America Line crew members have been killed in an “onboard incident” on Friday, in accordance with the cruise line.
Holland America stated the 2 crew members died after there was an incident in an engineering house on the Nieuw Amsterdam whereas the ship was docked in Half Moon Cay within the Bahamas.
Officers stated authorities have been notified and the reason for the incident is below investigation.

“All of us at Holland America Line are deeply saddened by this incident and our ideas and prayers are with our workforce members’ households at this tough time. The security, safety and welfare of all friends and crew are the corporate’s absolute precedence. We’re providing counseling companies to workforce members who could have been affected by this incident,” the cruise line stated in an announcement.
In response to CruiseMapper, the Nieuw Amsterdam departed on a week-long cruise from Fort Lauderdale on Saturday, March 16. The ship was docked at Half Moon Cay, Carnival Cruise Line’s non-public island on Friday.
The ship returned to Fort Lauderdale on Saturday, March 23.
