The Los Angeles Dodgers promoted left-handed pitching prospect Justin Wrobleski on Sunday, shortly on the heels of buying and selling righty Matt Gage to the New York Mets.
Wrobleski, a fast-rising prospect within the Dodgers group, is slated to make his main league debut Sunday in a begin in opposition to the Milwaukee Brewers.
Gage, 31, was traded to the Mets for money concerns. Over 16 profession main league appearances, he has amassed a 1.83 ERA with 20 strikeouts in opposition to 9 walks.
All of Gage’s appearances have come for the Toronto Blue Jays (2022) and Houston Astros (2023).
Wrobleski, 23, was thought of the highest left-handed pitching prospect within the group by a number of shops, having been promoted to Double-A Tulsa earlier this spring. He went 5-2 at Tulsa with a 3.06 ERA, 62 strikeouts and 13 walks in 13 begins.
The Dodgers optioned right-hander Gus Varland to make room for the younger pitcher. Varland, 27, is 1-1 in his profession in 23 appearances with a 5.81 ERA.
