Former Trump adviser Steve Bannon surrendered on Monday to regulation enforcement to start his four-month jail sentence for contempt of Congress.
He entered the Federal Correctional Institute Danbury, in Danbury, Connecticut, shortly earlier than midday to start serving his sentence.
The Supreme Court docket had on Friday denied Bannon’s request to stay out of jail throughout the appeals course of after he filed an emergency enchantment on Friday with the excessive courtroom.
Bannon was sentenced to 4 months in October 2022 after he was discovered responsible of defying a subpoena from the Home choose committee investigating the Jan. 6 assault on the Capitol.
Chatting with supporters earlier than he entered the Danbury facility, Bannon stated he was proud to start his sentence.
“I’m proud to go to jail,” Bannon stated. “If that is what it takes the stand as much as tyranny, if this fashion it takes the stand as much as the Garland corrupt prison DOJ, if that is what it takes to face as much as Nancy Pelosi, if that is what it takes to face as much as Joe Biden, I am proud to do it. “
Bannon, who was joined by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, Republican Senate candidate Royce White, former Blackwater CEO Erik Prince, and a priest, spoke as supporters and counter protesters shouted over one another.
Requested by ABC Information if he has any regrets about his conduct, Bannon stood by his actions.
“I’ve not solely no regrets,” Bannon stated, “I am really pleased with what I did, I might really feel horrible if I did not do it. I do not thoughts going to jail as we speak.”
Bannon instructed supporters that he’ll proceed to assist former President Donald Trump’s presidential marketing campaign from jail, including that his Battle Room podcast will probably be “larger and higher than ever.”

A U.S. district choose had ordered Bannon, 70, to report back to jail by July 1 to start serving his sentence.
Bannon is the second Trump adviser to be convicted and despatched to jail for refusing to cooperate with the Jan. 6 panel, after former Trump adviser Peter Navarro reported to jail in March.
