David Breashears, whose mountaineering led him to climb Mt. Everest 5 instances, died at his Massachusetts dwelling on Thursday. He was 68 and no trigger has been decided.
Breashears co-directed and co-produced a 1998 IMAX documentary for Common, Everest, about climbing the fabled mountain. Footage from that expedition to the height made him a star within the open air world.
“He mixed his ardour for climbing and pictures to grow to be one of many world’s most admired journey filmmakers,” his household mentioned in a written assertion.
In 2007, Breashears based GlacierWorks, which describes itself on Fb as a nonprofit group that “highlights modifications to Himalayan glaciers via artwork, science, and journey.”
“With GlacierWorks, he used his climbing and pictures expertise to create distinctive data revealing the dramatic results of local weather change on the historic mountain vary,” his household mentioned.
